Amy! I dearest this idea of "peeking effectually the corner" equally an act of change! It's truthful! And, that's such a great image! Thank you for chunking down change into such tiny steps that we may realize we are already on our mode – peeking around corners!

By the way, if you have an interest in writing a invitee post for me on Private Practise from the Inside Out (at present or later) based on how yous've peeked around corners to abound your practice, I would beloved it! Let me know if you're interested!

Tamara: Thanks then much for reading. Information technology'due south truthful, I have really plant with myself and my clients that we make more alter than we ever give ourselves credit for. All of the predatory steps and mini-experiments are part of the process of modify. Focusing on this can help us encounter our progress and encourage united states to accept the next steps. I definitely retrieve this applies to building a private practice as well. I would love to write about it for your blog. All the best! Amy

I love the idea of "evolution, not revolution." It'south something that tin can be a "go-to" affirmation when I need to be more mindful. I noticed the comment above almost all of the modest steps and mini-experiments that are part of the process of modify. I recall sometimes information technology is so very hard to give ourselves credit for these small steps and changes because we experience we need witnesses or information technology needs to exist very obvious or it doesn't count. Kind of similar "If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it brand a sound?" Sometimes we don't even "hear" or experience these small-scale changes or recognize them and their place in our process until we are much further down the path, much further in our evolution. Here's where I feel that religion has played a huge office in my own process. Faith that as long equally I am moving forward, it is enough. It doesn't affair how much. As long as I'yard not standing nevertheless…for too long. The procedure is frequently full of fits and starts and even some circling back to where we've been and then…finally rapid progression forwards!

If courage is our value, then maybe it can exist skilful enough that nosotros are existence brave? That we are in the loonshit trying and giving information technology our all-time shot? And hopefully we tin detect some folks who share that similar value who nosotros can be on the journeying with. And know that we aren't alone. Maybe that can sustain us when we need to be then patient with the slow parts of our evolution?

I'm as well thinking about the concept of "revolution" not just as in a radical change, but besides the idea of "revolution" equally in turning or post-obit some prescribed course back to the original starting bespeak. We tin can feel like we're spinning in circles sometimes, right? Simply with faith and courage I call back we can take comfort that we volition come out of the spiral and continue moving forward.

In my development, I have felt sometimes very lonely. If the process is going to be wearisome and non-linear, I experience deeply that nosotros demand to find meaningful connexion to ourselves and others along the way. May the force exist with us in our journeys. 🙂

      HI Laura:

Thank you as ever for your very thoughtful comments hither.

A long fourth dimension ago someone told me that we revisit issues in a fashion that is akin to a spiral. I like this image. Rather than feeling that I am going in circles, I see that I am moving up and forrard, even when I am revisiting an "old" upshot. It makes sense that we have to revisit things equally we get to new parts of our lives. In this way, I am not taking a step "back," but rather reexamining something old in a new fashion.

I like your point about having a witness. Specially if we feel a bit unhinged, lilliputian changes can experience more real and stiff when they are shared. It'south reassuring. Connecting with people who understand your journey can be validating, just also grounding. Listening to yourself nearly who is healthy in this mode is then key. Thanks for that important point!

      Happy connecting!
      Amy
